Ukraine’s presidential party Servant of the People is on course to win a parliamentary majority. At this stage, the party has the opportunity to gain 227 mandates in a new parliament, which is enough to form a majority.

According to data from the election commission, 35.51 percent of votes had been already counted. Volodymyr Zelenskiy ‘s party received 42% of votes, according to preliminary results.

According to current data, Ukraine’s presidential party has 121 mandates gained from the proportional list and  106 from majoritarian constituencies, which are 227 mandates in total. The Ukrainian Rada consists of 450 seats, at least 226 mandates required to form the majority.

As for other parties, based on preliminary results the seats are distributed as follows: Opposition Platform For Life receives 43 mandates, former president Pyotr Poroshenko’s European Solidarity – 27, former prime minister Yulia Timoshenko’s Batkivschina – 26, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s Voice – 20.

Ukraine has a mixed election system, where half the parliamentary seats are determined by votes on party lists and the rest are first-past-the-post constituencies races.

The snap parliamentary election was held in Ukraine yesterday.
