British Ambassador encourages political parties in Georgia to work together on EC points

British Ambassador to Georgia Mark Clayton on Wednesday encouraged all political parties in Georgia to work together to implement the European Commission’s 12 points.

Clayton pointed out that “the UK is no longer a member of the European Union, so we are not directly involved in any of those 12 points, but the UK does support Georgia’s aspirations to join the EU and of course, NATO.”

“There is a very basic democratic point behind that which is that Georgian people say they want to join the EU and the NATO and every main political party says they also support that membership, so in that spirit, our position is that we encourage all the political parties to work together to implement those 12 requirements,” the Ambassador stated.
