U.S. Embassy: Today we celebrate beauty, uniqueness of Georgian language
The U.S. Embassy in Georgia congratulates the Georgian people on Mother Language Day.
According to the statement posted by the Embassy on its Facebook page, on April 14, 1978, Georgian people resisted the Soviet Union’s attempt to strip the Georgian language of its state language status.
“Today we honor their courage and celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of the Georgian language. Congratulations to our Georgian friends on Mother Language Day!” the Embassy wrote.
