Two new factions will be established within the parliamentary majority for New Year. Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian parliament confirmed the information and said he had already undergone through consultations with Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

Archil Talakvadzde, Leader of the parliamentary majority reported that the new factions will be established to improve management and make the working process effective.

Reportedly, one of the new factions will be headed by MP Bidzina Gegidze. MPs Irakli Abuseridze and Levan Gogichaishvili will join the same faction. Representatives of the Georgian Dream say they do not yet know who will be other members of the faction.

“This decision does not need any negative or special reason. This is a parliamentary process,” Gegidze said. He thus ruled out presumption that creation of two factions in the Parliament is in connection with the confrontation between the Prime Minister and singer Gia Gachechiladze “Utsnobi.”

Each faction will have six MPs as members. The parliamentary majority will have 8 factions as a result afterwards.

“Two new factions will be created within the majority, and we are going to open the spring session with a reconstructed composition. I mean regrouping for better coordination, better management. I think that the main goal of this regrouping will be good management. There will be one main faction – Georgian Dream and two additional factions. I was one of the initiators of the above-mentioned, as I do not think that one 86-member faction and several small 6-member factions are not the best source of management,” Majority MP Mamuka Mdinaradze said.
