The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has arrested two more individuals on charges related to the illegal detention and premeditated murder of Roin Shavadze, a brigade sergeant of the Defence Ministry and participant in the August 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects are involved in a violent attack, brutal beating, and subsequent murder of Shavadze. The investigation suggests that the attack occurred in 2008, and the perpetrators created a false version of events to conceal the intentional killing.
The arrested individuals are facing charges under Article 109, Part 2, and Article 147, Part 3 of Georgia’s Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing to identify and expose other individuals involved in the crime.
On July 27, 2023, criminal prosecution was initiated against ten individuals in the same case.
