Turkish Ambassador: Georgia is renowned for wine production; it is important to understand challenges faced by wine producers
Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Mustafa Türker Arı said he was pleased to participate in the traditional diplomatic grape harvest in Kakheti.
According to the ambassador, the diplomatic grape harvest is an important tradition, and he thanked Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili for organizing the event.
“I am very grateful to Vice Prime Minister Maka Botchorishvili. This is a very important tradition, and I am happy to be part of it. A few minutes ago, we also picked grapes — these are Saperavi grapes.
I know that Georgia is very well known for wine production and exports. This is a very informal gathering, and it is important to speak with wine producers, learn about their challenges, how they produce wine, how they take care of their vineyards and, most importantly, how they determine the exact right time to harvest the grapes.
In a few minutes, we will see how wine is made, and especially how the grapes are pressed. The grapes are very juicy. By the way, I ate a few grapes while harvesting them — they are very high quality and delicious.
I am happy to be here. I think being close to nature is very good for ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps. I am glad that Ms. Maka Botchorishvili invited us here today,” the Turkish ambassador said.
