Turkey’s special representative: Akhalkalaki-Kars railway opening strengthens Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia cooperation
The Turkey’s special representative for the normalization of relations with Armenia, Serdar Kılıç welcomed recent developments regarding railway connectivity involving Armenia, describing them as an important step toward regional cooperation.
Kılıç was responding to remarks by Nikol Pashinyan, who stated earlier that the Akhalkalaki–Kars railway, along with the Azerbaijani railway network, is now open for Armenian export and import operations.
“A new step towards direct trade between Turkey and Armenia within the normalization process,” Kılıç said.
He expressed hope that the development would strengthen cooperation among Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
“I hope that this new step will also strengthen the quadrilateral cooperation between Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and will make a significant contribution to regional peace and stability, bringing success to all these countries,” the Turkish diplomat stated.
