Turkey deploys Akinci drone to assist in search and rescue operation in Georgia
Turkey has sent an Akinci drone to Georgia to assist in the search and rescue efforts at the site of the Turkish military cargo plane crash.
According to the Turkish bureau of the APA agency, the drone will join the ongoing search operations in the coming hours.
The Akinci unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was also used in 2024 during the search operation following the crash of the Iranian president’s plane.
A Turkish C-130 military aircraft crashed in Georgia’s Sighnaghi municipality, approximately five kilometers from the Georgian state border, while flying from Azerbaijan to Turkey.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of air transport safety or operational rules resulting in loss of human life.
