Tsotne Ananidze has been elected Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
Ananidze was nominated by the Georgian Dream faction. He needed the support of 11 deputies to be confirmed and received 12 votes in a secret ballot.
“I would like to thank my colleagues for the trust they have expressed. This is not a privilege, but a responsibility — to each of you, to our common goals, and first and foremost, to serving the people and the state. Every mandate belongs to the people. I would also like to express special gratitude to the citizens of Adjara for their choice. Their decision benefits not just our team, but our state and our region,” Ananidze said.
For context, the previous Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Davit Gabaidze, resigned on March 30.
