Traffic restrictions announced around Sameba Cathedral on May 11 due to Patriarch election
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place around the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi on May 11, from 09:00 to 18:00, in connection with the election of the Patriarch of Georgia.
Vehicle traffic will be prohibited from Bukhaidze Street toward Samreklo Street.
Traffic on Bukhaidze Street will also be partially restricted, with the affected section accessible only to pedestrians.
Additional traffic restrictions will apply at Akhvlediani Square and Akhvlediani Ascent, as well as from Niabi Street toward Gumbri Street.
Traffic near Avlabari Metro Station will also be restricted from Gonashvili Street toward Meskhishvili Street.
The ministry said parking areas will be arranged at Akhvlediani Square and Khetagurovi Street. From there, visitors will be able to reach the cathedral either by specially designated minibuses or on foot via Akhvlediani Street. Pedestrian access will also be available from Avlabari Metro Station through Gonashvili Street.
