Tornike Shengelia fined by FIBA, eligible for next EuroBasket match

Georgian national team captain Tornike Shengelia will not face suspension for the next EuroBasket game. Instead, FIBA has imposed a financial fine following his actions in the match against Italy.

Shengelia received a second technical warning for verbally abusing referees at the end of the game and was subsequently ejected from the court. This sparked speculation over whether he would be sidelined for the upcoming match.

FIBA has now clarified the situation, confirming that the sanction is financial only. Shengelia remains eligible to play, with the final decision resting with head coach Aleksandar Dzikić ahead of today’s game against Greece.
