Tiny Kox: We call on Georgian politicians and new parliament to assemble and start working

We call on Georgian politicians and the new parliament to assemble as soon as possible and start working – Tiny Kox, Head of the election observer delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said when commenting about the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia.

According to Kox, the fact that Georgia managed to organize elections amid the pandemic, demonstrates that it is not afraid of democracy.

“These parliamentary elections were generally free, but we, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, regret that your country still does not have clear rules on the financing of this campaign and its unlimited funding. This, of course, negatively effects on fairness of the elections and does not give good signal to your citizens.

Therefore, we call on Georgian politicians and the new parliament to assemble as soon as possible and start working on improvement of legislation framework in direction of supervision of campaigns. I am sure that everything will be done if there is such political will,” Kox said.
