Tinatin Berdzenishvili becomes Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster for a second term. Her candidacy was supported by eight members of the Board of Trustees through an open vote.

Tinatin Berdzenishvili is the first Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster to complete a full term in office. During her first term, she introduced a fundamentally new and innovative approach to organisational management. Under her leadership, the Georgian Public Broadcaster completed the construction of its new headquarters—a landmark project of the century, unprecedented not only in Georgia but across the region in terms of its scale and complexity.

Alongside the development of the new infrastructure, the organisation underwent a comprehensive transformation, introducing a new organisational structure and replacing the traditional vertical management system with a more agile, horizontal model. Under Tinatin Berdzenishvili’s leadership and with her direct involvement, several new platforms were launched, including Georgia’s first free streaming platform, 1tvplay.ge, and the dedicated sports channel 1TV Sport.

“The past six years have been a period of growth, renewal, and significant transformation for the GPB. We implemented the project of the century — the construction of a new headquarters, the renewal of technical and technological infrastructure, alongside the repayment of a GEL 45 million loan. During this time, we have not only maintained institutional stability but have also transformed the organisation into a modern, multi-platform public service media organisation, fully adapted to the digital era. We also launched new digital platforms, expanded sports broadcasting, significantly increased the production of original Georgian content, and strengthened the broadcaster’s role in the country’s cultural, educational, and public life. As a result, today the Broadcaster is stronger, more diverse, and more audience-focused than ever before.

However, the GPB is more than just an organisation for me. It is where my professional journey began, and I have grown alongside this Broadcaster for many years. That is why I am honoured to reaffirm my commitment to leading its continued development over the next six years with the same sense of responsibility, dedication, and motivation,” said Tinatin Berdzenishvili, Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster.

The competition for the position of Director General was announced on June 25, 2026, and the Board of Trustees held an open vote on July 29, 2026.
