Tina Bokuchava confirms she remains in UNM: I will fight until the end
Chair of the opposition United National Movement party, Tina Bokuchava, said in a social media post that she remains in the party and will continue her political struggle.
“Given the calls I have been receiving from journalists, I consider it necessary to once again clearly reiterate what I said at the end of yesterday’s briefing: of course, I am staying in the United National Movement and, of course, I will fight until the end. Georgia will prevail,” Bokuchava wrote.
Jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili wrote in his Facebook post: “In July, the terms of all party officials will expire. We must hold leadership elections in a format that rules out any interference from the regime. My candidate for the chairmanship is Nanuka Zhorzholiani.”
Later, Bokuchava commented on Saakashvili’s post, saying that she found it deeply disappointing.
“Saakashvili’s post is extremely disappointing for me. Such impulsive and inconsistent decisions are what brought us to where we are today,” Bokuchava stated.
