Three opposition parties, the United National Movement (UNM), Lelo and Droa, formed the Anti-Occupation Council initiated by the Anti-occupation movement Power Is in Unity on Monday.
The opposition members believe, “when the entire civilized world is focused on Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, Georgia is left behind in this process.”
“We, representatives of the opposition and civil society, recognise our responsibility to the country, future generations and create the Anti-Occupation Coordination Council to return the occupation issue to the political agenda, act proactively and prevent new threats, force the state to take effective steps, increase the involvement of international partners in this process, improve the security of the local population and change their role in the de-occupation process,” the parties stressed in a statement.
