Thousands of people on Sao Paulo’s Paulista Avenue gathered to protest far-right president-elect Jair Bolsonaro, who is huddling with advisers to finalize the cabinet that will be charged with implementing his hardline agenda, as opponents planned their “resistance.”
Bolsonaro won in October 28 presidential elections. He received 55 % of votes. The president-elect is famous for making racist and homophobic statements. He supports the death penalty. Fight against corruption and crime was one of the main pre-election promises of Bolsonaro.
