Tengiz Tsertsvadze Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Scientific-Practical Center was officially opened on 70 Liubliana Street in the Dighomi district of Tbilisi.

According to the Health Ministry, the 11-story building is up to date with contemporary laboratories, plethysmography, computer tomography, ultrasound, and radiology equipment. Future upgrades include magnetic resonance technology.

The renewed centre is designed for 83 beds, including an emergency outpatient treatment department. In all, 352 people are employed at the facility.

The centre was renamed Tengiz Tsertsvadze Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Scientific-Practical Center after the death of its head in 2024.

The Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital was established in 1953. The AIDS department was added in 1989, with Tengiz Tsertsvadze as its director.

Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, also attended the new building’s inaugural ceremony.
