Temporary roofing works completed in St. George Church at Gelati Monastery Complex, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation briefed Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) on Monday.
The Agency representative Zaza Chkhikvadze noted that the church is now fully protected from winter season precipitation.
The drainage system will be arranged after the roofing works, Chkhikvadze added.
Scaffolding works are underway in the main church of Saint Mother of God.
The actual roof tiling of Georgia’s Gelati Monastery Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was damaged due to rainwater leakage back in 2020.
