Georgian Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, Revaz Lominadze, and Chief Commercial Officer of the Swiss airline Edelweiss, Patrick Heymann, met this week to discuss direct flights between Georgia and Switzerland.
According to the Georgian Embassy, Edelweiss is interested in appointing the Zurich-Tbilisi-Zurich flight, and “the talks are about to come to a close. Georgian Embassy to the Swiss Confederation is also actively involved in the process.”
The Embassy noted that direct flights between the two countries would help increase tourist flows, attract investors and strengthen economic cooperation.
“At the meeting, the Ambassador of Georgia spoke in detail about the importance and perspective of a positive solution to this issue. Revaz Lominadze informed the Leadership of the Swiss airline company about the growing dynamics of the Georgian economy, paying particular attention to the current situation and positive trends in the civil aviation and tourism sectors,” reads the Embassy’s statement.
