Tbilisi ranks second among world’s top trending destinations for 2026

The internationally renowned publication Forbes, using data from Tripadvisor, has named Tbilisi the second most trending tourist destination in the world for 2026, the National Tourism Administration reported.

According to the Administration, the ranking, part of the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards, is based on ratings and reviews from millions of travelers, making it one of the most reliable and objective indicators in international tourism.

The article highlights Tbilisi’s blend of historical and modern architecture, cultural institutions, and new art spaces that give the city a contemporary yet authentic feel. Landmarks such as Rustaveli Avenue, the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, and the Shalva Amiranashvili Art Museum are specifically mentioned.

“It feels like 2026 is the year that Tbilisi finally makes its mark on the global tourist map. Georgia’s capital (the European one) is a city alive with possibility in 2026, reflected in the new openings that are transforming its cultural and visitor landscape,” the article states.

Alongside Tbilisi, the top ten trending destinations of 2026 include: Madeira (Portugal), Chicago (USA), Qui Nhon (Vietnam), Puerto Escondido (Mexico), Milan (Italy), Glasgow (Scotland), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Recife (Brazil), and San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina), the National Tourism Administration said.
