Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze summed up his recent visit to the People’s Republic of China and thanked the host country for hospitality.

Kaladze expressed hope that relations between Georgia and China would further deepen.

Tbilisi Mayor met with Li Zhongjun, the Mayor of Nanjing.

“We reviewed the future relationship between the cities; we also discussed the possibility of establishing a sister-city partnership. Furthermore, I would like to thank the Chinese side for their hospitality and warm welcome, and I am confident that the relationship between our countries and cities will deepen further and become even more engaging,” he said.

Kakha Kaladze emphasized Nanjing’s historic significance and modern urban achievements, and said Tbilisi would share the experience.

“Nanjing is one of the oldest cities in China. Years ago, it held the status of capital, and it is quite interesting to observe how the city is evolving, its pace of development, new initiatives, and advancements in areas ranging from IT technologies to infrastructure and urban development.

Yet, it faces challenges like Tbilisi. We will do our best to share the projects implemented in Nanjing in Tbilisi to address the challenges we face,” he said.

Tbilisi Mayor focused on transport projects and said that Chinese company CRRC, which won the tender, has begun producing new subway cars.

“Residents of Tbilisi will soon have the opportunity to travel in new metro cars. I am pleased, and I congratulate everyone who takes pleasure in the city’s development and welcomes the implementation of projects that are vital for our city,” he said.
