Tbilisi Mayor: People govern country; Georgians decide who holds power and how opposition is represented
“Everyone must understand that the country is governed by its people; it is the Georgian population that determines who should be in power and how the opposition spectrum should be represented,” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze in response to assessments made by certain representatives of the European Union and European institutions regarding the October 4 local self-government elections.
Kaladze emphasised that the true masters of this country are ordinary citizens, not outsiders.
“My stance is straightforward; neither Kallas nor Kos will be able to help you if the Georgian people do not support you. The European Union holds no real interest for me; what matters most is His Excellency, the Georgian people.
You need to understand one fundamental point: the true rulers of this country are its ordinary citizens; the population you see here, the people of Georgia, not external actors. Remember this. The governance of this nation rests solely with His Excellency, the Georgian people. They decide who should be in power, and they determine how the opposition spectrum should be represented,” Kakha Kaladze said, responding to the media.
