Tbilisi Mayor meets Deputy FM of Italy

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic, Edmondo Cirielli.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the close relations between Georgia and Italy and the importance of deepening cooperation in various areas.

“I am glad that our countries are connected by friendly relations. You have a very good ambassador, and I thank him for his cooperation and support. Given the current geopolitical situation, it is important to enhance cooperation with partner countries. Georgia has openly declared its European course; however, we see an unfair attitude toward this path. We are not fighting anyone, we are only protecting the interests of our country and our population. It is probably unnecessary to say that I have a special love for Italy. I am ready to contribute in every way to further deepening relations between our countries,” said Kakha Kaladze.

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic thanked the Mayor for his hospitality and emphasized Italy’s readiness to deepen relations between the two countries.

“I am glad to meet you. I hope that the partnership between our countries will further deepen. Italy has supported and will continue to strongly support Georgia’s territorial integrity and its aspirations to join European structures,” said Edmondo Cirielli.

The meeting held at Tbilisi City Hall was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia, Massimiliano D’Antuono.
