Tbilisi Mayor: Heavy snowfall expected tonight and tomorrow, all services mobilized

Roads in the capital are being actively cleared of snow as municipal services operate in emergency mode, Tbilisi City Hall reported.

According to the City Hall, snow removal is underway on central streets, internal roads, entrances to underground passages, public stairways, and municipal transport stops. In addition to special equipment, technical salt is being spread manually to ensure road safety.

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, together with Deputy Mayors Irakli Bendeliani and Kakha Abuladze, visited the Kojori area to inspect the process of loading technical salt and ongoing road-clearing operations.

“All relevant municipal services have been mobilized, including Tbilservice Group and district administrations. We are working in close coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Patrol Police, and the ‘112’ emergency service,” Kaladze said. He added that information is also received through the City Hall hotline and municipal bus drivers.

According to the Mayor, both central avenues and secondary roads have been fully cleared, and traffic movement remains unrestricted throughout the city. He noted that heavy snowfall is expected overnight and throughout the following day, adding that technical salt application will continue around the clock.

Kaladze urged residents to avoid travelling without winter tires.

Tbilisi City Hall stated that snow-clearing operations are being carried out 24 hours a day by Tbilservice Group employees, with representatives from all ten district administrations involved in continuous monitoring.

In case of traffic disruptions, citizens are advised to contact the Tbilservice Group hotline at 2 61 90 50 or the Tbilisi City Hall hotline at 2 72 22 22, where appropriate response teams will be dispatched.
