Tbilisi Mayor dubs opposition's claim of fake ID production as huge deception

“This is a huge deception and lie. We have repeatedly caught specific non-governmental organizations in lies when they made such statements, but when it came down to it, they had no concrete evidence or facts,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told the media in response to opposition representatives’ accusations that the Georgian Dream is preparing fake IDs before the elections and getting ready for the so-called carousel voting.

According to Kakha Kaladze, the goal of the radicals behind these accusations is to hinder peaceful elections.

“This is also aimed at somehow trying to spoil and damage these peaceful elections. They are radicals and enemies of the country because these people don’t like and don’t want this calm situation; they don’t like peace in the country. Imagine, when banners are directly posted saying ‘No to War’ and we’re fighting against, opposing the idea of a second war front in the country, opposing war, even this bothers them and is difficult for them, and you see what they’re doing. They crossed out and painted over these banners that read ‘No to War’. Can you imagine the mindset of these people? What state they’re in?

Accordingly, we should all go to the polls on October 26 and make the right choice that this country and its future need. Peace and maintaining peace are important in the country. There is no alternative to peace. If we didn’t have peace in the country, we wouldn’t be here today and couldn’t come to see this important project. Therefore, the most important thing is maintaining peace,” Kakha Kaladze stated.
