Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze congratulated the Georgian national basketball and football teams on their victories, calling yesterday a “day of great joy” for sports fans across the country.

The Mayor highlighted the historic achievement of the basketball team, which advanced to the EuroBasket quarterfinals for the first time in history, and the football team’s convincing 3:0 victory over Bulgaria in the World Cup qualifying round.

“It is gratifying that our players won. Yesterday, our guys really played very well. I congratulate all of Georgia, all the fans who were happy with this victory,” Kaladze said.

He added that both achievements brought pride to the country.

“The basketball players achieved the best result and we achieved success here too. Yesterday was a day of great joy for sports fans. I congratulate everyone who was happy with the victory of both our basketball players and football players,” he said.
