Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says that business is completely free in the country today and that anyone can run their own business, including in the construction sector.

The mayor of the capital made the statement in response to a question from a media representative regarding construction permits issued for projects on Sarajishvili Street and Marshal Gelovani Avenue, and whether the relevant documentation had been verified by the appropriate City Hall departments.

Kakha Kaladze explained that construction permits are not issued based on political views.

“Today, business in the country is absolutely free. There is a free business environment, and anyone can conduct business activities regardless of their political views. The best example of a free environment is Mamuka Khazaradze’s company. Khazaradze, who finances TV Pirveli, is involved in politics, yet he owns one of the largest construction companies, which continues to operate without any interruption. By this, I mean that any business entity, regardless of political views, can operate and carry out its activities within the law. There is no interference,” Kakha Kaladze said.
