Tbilisi Mayor believes peaceful means contribute to restoration of trust and territorial integrity
On the anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, along with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, and other government officials, laid a wreath at the memorial honouring the heroes who fought for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
Kaladze emphasized that restoring the country’s territorial integrity can only be achieved through mutual forgiveness and reconciliation.
“September 27, the day of the fall of Sokhumi, marks one of the most challenging moments in Georgia’s history. The aftermath of war has resulted in lost territories, civilian and military casualties, and tens of thousands displaced. While nothing can ease this pain, we must prioritize Georgia’s interests by taking steps towards mutual forgiveness and reconciliation. I believe that through development, respect, and peaceful means, we can restore trust, reunite, and achieve our nation’s territorial integrity. The memory of our heroic soldiers, along with our responsibility to future generations, compels us to pursue this path,” stated Kakha Kaladze.
