Tbilisi Ethnography Museum hosts Farmer’s day

“Farmer’s Day 2026,” hosted by the Tbilisi Museum of Ethnography, was officially opened by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported.

The event was initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and organized by the Rural Development Agency. It aimed to showcase the work of farmers and agribusiness representatives, highlight their important role, and support the development of the agricultural sector.

“Georgia’s agricultural sector is developing steadily, and this dynamic is linked to the work of our farmers and agribusiness representatives, as well as consistent state support. Today, half of Georgia’s 10 largest export products are agri-food products.

“Since the launch of state support programs, the output of agribusiness products has increased by an average of 8% annually. Last year, Georgia exported a record $1.8 billion worth of agri-food products to 110 countries around the world.

“Our goal is to fully realize the potential of Georgia’s agricultural sector, strengthen its competitiveness, and help consolidate the position of Georgian products on global markets,” Songhulashvili said.

As part of “Farmer’s Day 2026,” visitors had the opportunity to explore a wide range of products from Georgia’s agricultural sector. Farmers and agribusiness representatives presented their products at specially arranged pavilions, showcasing the diversity of locally produced agri-food goods.

Visitors could also receive information from representatives of the ministry’s agencies about agricultural services and support mechanisms available to farmers and agribusinesses.

The “Farmer’s Day” program includes a range of activities. Culinary masterclasses are being held with the participation of professional chefs, while educational and entertainment activities are taking place in a specially arranged area for children.

Another key part of the event was the presentation of awards to representatives of the agricultural sector. Special awards were presented to farmers and agribusiness representatives who have made significant contributions to the development of agriculture.
