Tbilisi Court sentences Bachiashvili’s parents to pre-trial detention in absentia

Tbilisi City Court has sentenced the parents of Giorgi Bachiashvili — Marina Ramazashvili and Aleksandre Bachiashvili — to imprisonment in absentia as a preventive measure. They are accused of assisting in the legalisation of illegal income.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendants left Georgia on February 26, 2025, and are currently outside the country.

The defense has requested their release without a preventive measure, arguing that Ramazashvili and Bachiashvili are not guilty and have not been questioned in the ongoing investigation.

The couple is charged under Article 25, Section 194, Subparagraph “c,” Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of 9 to 12 years in prison.
