Tbilisi City Hall to provide GEL 1.687 million in emergency aid to fire-ravaged merchants
Tbilisi City Hall will provide one-time financial assistance to citizens affected by the fire that broke out at the market near Station Square, with the total amount reaching GEL 1,687,000.
As the capital’s mayor, Kakha Kaladze, announced at a meeting of the Tbilisi government, the financial assistance will be provided per a government decree.
“You probably remember what tremendous damage the fire at the market near Station Square caused to the merchants there. Our staff met with the victims several times, and our relevant services were present at the scene. Based on their request, the territory was immediately cleaned up and organised, and demolition work is currently underway so that these people can resume their activities as soon as possible. As for damage compensation, numerous meetings were held on this issue. By decree of the Government of Georgia, a decision has been made for the Tbilisi City Hall to provide one-time financial assistance to citizens affected by the fire. This amount totals GEL 1,687,000,” Kakha Kaladze noted.
The Mayor of Tbilisi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on behalf of the victims for his support.
