Tbilisi City Hall: Infrastructure damaged due to heavy rain, drainage network, roads being cleared
Intensive work is underway to clear streets and repair infrastructure damaged by the heavy rainfall that hit Tbilisi on the night of August 14,” Tbilisi City Hall said.
According to the City Hall, all relevant services and representatives of the Emergency Situations Management Service are involved in the clearing efforts.
TbilServiceGroup teams dispatched to different districts continue to clean the drainage network by pumping works across the city. Heavy vehicles are involved in the flood elimination works.
Ground floors and cellars were flooded in Chughureti, Vake, Krtsanisi and Mtatsminda regions. A wall of a residential building collapsed on Sanerge Street in Nadzaladevi district. Nobody was injured in the accident. The Gamgeoba (district administration) offered an alternative living space to the family. Several cars were damaged on Bakhtrioni Street.
“Our teams are carrying out cleanup operations in 24-hour mode. Heavy precipitation hit Vake, Mtatsminda, and Krtsanisi districts. A workforce of over 500 people, along with 30 staff members, has been mobilized across all areas and is engaged in disaster elimination efforts. The process will continue until the issues are fully resolved,” said Giorgi Papava, Head of TbilServiceGroup.
