Tbilisi City Hall announces ideas competition New Urban Experience

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has announced an ideas competition titled “Neighborhood Tailored to You – Ideas Competition for a New Urban Experience” as part of the city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility initiative.

Speaking at a meeting of the Tbilisi Municipal Government, Kaladze said the competition is aimed at ensuring that residents’ experiences, everyday needs and ideas are taken into greater consideration in the city’s development.

“It is important for us to take residents’ experiences, everyday needs and ideas into greater consideration in the development of the city. For this purpose, we are launching the competition ‘A Neighborhood Tailored to You – Ideas Competition for a New Urban Experience.’ Applications for this interesting project opened today. I encourage everyone to be active and participate so that together we can improve specific neighborhoods and areas. We will hear your ideas and visions and, with our involvement, will be able to implement specific projects,” Kaladze said.

According to the mayor, information about the competition area has been published on the Tbilisi City Hall website and the relevant Facebook page.

“The aim of the competition is to receive practical and socially beneficial ideas that will improve specific urban environments. This could include pedestrian safety, accessibility, connections to public transport, or creating a more comfortable environment for residents.

“The competition area includes streets around Tamar Mepe and Agmashenebeli avenues, Marjanishvili Street and Saarbrücken Square, as well as public spaces. Detailed information and the exact competition area can be found on the City Hall website and the relevant Facebook page,” Kaladze said.

The mayor also said that various activities have been planned as part of European Mobility Week.

“European Mobility Week began today, and Tbilisi has been participating in it for the seventh consecutive year. As part of the week, the Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency has planned various activities aimed at raising awareness of sustainable mobility. Residents will have the opportunity to visit State University Metro Station and the Didi Dighomi bus depot, where they will learn about the operations of both the metro and buses,” Kaladze said.
