Tbilisi City Court hears minor protest participant's case

Tbilisi City Court Judge Zviad Tsekvava reviewed the administrative case of minor protest participant Mikael Medzmarashvili.

A representative from the Ministry of Internal Affairs has contested Medzmarashvili’s alleged involvement in blocking Rustaveli Avenue during the protests on December 11. Given that the case involves a minor, the judge ordered the hearing to be closed to the public.

Following the hearing, both Mikael Medzmarashvili and his mother, who attended the session, addressed the media. They asserted that the video footage associated with the case does not support the claim that Mikael was blocking Rustaveli Avenue. Instead, they explained, the footage—which was also shared with the media—depicts Rustaveli Avenue already blocked, with a crowd gathered, and Mikael standing peacefully among the other participants.

The judge has postponed the hearing until February 28. The representative from the Ministry of Internal Affairs declined to provide any comments.
