We made a demarche to the Justice Minister concerning jailed ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s deteriorating health, said Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Ulrik Tideström.

“Yesterday, we made a joint EU demarche to the Minister of Justice. It was a demarche agreed upon by 27 EU member states. We did it out of concern about reports on the deteriorating health of the former President. After yesterday’s demarche, the EU ambassador made comments to the media, and I have nothing more to add,” Ambassador stated.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski and Swedish Ambassador Ulrik Tideström on Monday delivered a formal demarche to Justice Minister Rati Bregadze concerning jailed ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Herczynski said the EU member states “are very concerned about reports of Saakashvili’s deteriorating health.”
