Supreme Council of Adjara to approve Chairman and Cabinet

The Supreme Council of Adjara will approve the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic and the Cabinet of Ministers at the extraordinary session today.

After consultations with the parliamentary majority, the President nominated Tornike Rizhvadze as the head of the Government of Adjara again.

Tornike Rizhvadze presented the Cabinet of Ministers to the Supreme Council. All four ministers remain in office. In particular, Jaba Putkaradze has been nominated as the Minister of Finance and Economy, Nino Nozharadze as the Minister of Health, Maia Khajishvili as the Minister of Education, and Giorgi Surmanidze as the Minister of Agriculture.

Tornike Rizhvadze named health, social spheres, and economic recovery the main priorities due to the pandemic.

According to his forecast, GDP in Adjara will increase by 6.5 percent next year.

11 votes out of 21 are needed to approve the Autonomous Government of Adjara. The ruling Georgian Dream has 14 deputies. Irakli Chavleishvili, a member of the opposition United National Movement party, also attends the sitting.
