Subsistence minimum in Georgia decreases in December 2025, Geostat reports
According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia (Geostat), the subsistence minimum decreased in December 2025 compared to November.
For men of working age, the subsistence minimum fell from 288.4 GEL in November to 283.3 GEL in December, a decrease of 5 GEL and 10 tetri. For the average consumer, the subsistence minimum dropped by 4 GEL and 50 tetri, reaching 250.9 GEL.
Geostat notes that the subsistence minimum is based on the minimum food basket, which includes the quantity of food necessary to maintain normal life and work capacity for a person of working age. The basket contains 40 products, including bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
