Strong Georgia's Khazaradze urges U.S. to pressure GD regarding economic and geopolitical interests in Black Sea region

“Bidzina Ivanishvili halted the Anaklia project with American investments and handed it over to a corrupted and sanctioned company controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, which threatens both Georgia’s and the United State’s interests,” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, on social media.

According to him, the U.S. should pressure the Georgian Dream’s illegitimate, pro-Iranian and pro-Chinese regime to protect its vital economic and geopolitical interests in the Black Sea region.

“I completely agree with Congressman Wilson that Georgia is the main transit route for critically important minerals and rare earth metals from Central Asia, and the dominance of Chinese, Iranian, and Russian regimes over this trade route should not be allowed, as is happening under Ivanishvili’s self-proclaimed regime.

The Anaklia Deep Sea Port, which has irreplaceable value for Georgia’s welfare and security, will be a critically important part of the Middle Corridor and regional connectivity. Unfortunately, Ivanishvili halted the project with American investments and handed it over to a corrupted and sanctioned company controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, which threatened both Georgia’s and U.S. interests.

The Panama case clearly shows how successful pressure from Trump’s new administration can be in terms of protecting U.S. national interests. Like Panama, the United States should pressure the Georgian Dream’s illegitimate, pro-Iranian and pro-Chinese regime to protect its vital economic and geopolitical interests in the Black Sea region as well,” writes Mamuka Khazaradze.
