“The European Parliament resolution reaffirmed that there is no alternative to persistent resistance and unity, though it is unfortunate that we could not agree on boycotting the farce called the self-government elections,” stated Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Agmashenebeli party.

He emphasised that the path to victory is straightforward: no compromise with the Georgian Dream, only “unity among us.”

“Our goal is to change this oppressive regime, not to fracture ourselves. Our primary fight must be against the common enemy. Society perceives this confrontation and loses hope that the opposition truly offers a strong alternative.

Let’s not overstate the significance of these so-called self-government elections. They do not determine the country’s fate. For the Georgian people and international partners, this is a farce, not genuine elections. The real battle lies ahead—one that will genuinely change the power structure.

The route to victory is simple: no compromise with the Georgian Dream, only unity among us. Without unity, defeating the regime is impossible. The more divided and opposed we appear, the more the regime benefits. Therefore, mutual compromise is crucial.

The reality is that restoring legitimacy through these “self-government” elections is futile: the majority of opposition parties refuse to recognize or participate in this process; the electoral environment has deteriorated to the point where competition, fairness, and trust are absent; international observation missions, including the OSCE, have been entirely excluded; resolutions by the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE clearly state that the only solution to Georgia’s crisis is new parliamentary elections; and political prisoners, including party leaders, remain behind bars. During the recent visit to Brussels—attended by nearly all parties—it became evident that these elections hold no real importance for international partners,” Vashadze notes.

He urged the opposition to create a unified decision-making mechanism.

“It’s time to close this chapter, learn from it, and ensure we don’t face the same situation again. We need a common decision-making process to determine how to continue our struggle, how to move toward genuine unity—not just in words but in action—and how to build a strong alternative that will make our resistance more organised and hasten our victory.

Nothing can be achieved through these farcical elections. A decisive, meaningful struggle awaits us. The road to victory runs through unity, a shared action plan, and mutual respect. The only way out of this crisis is through new, fair parliamentary elections. This country belongs to us, not Ivanishvili’s violent regime,” Giorgi Vashadze declared in a statement released by the party’s press service.
