Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party, said that within the parliamentary boycott, the party would only take part in the discussions over the President’s veto of the Transparency bill.
“There is no other issue but the Russian Law because with the May 14 voting, the Georgian Dream put itself outside the Constitution.
Of course, we will participate in veto discussions but in no other issues since this bill contradicts the European integration path. We will voice our stance where Russian Law is concerned because it reinforces the regime,” he said.
The Lelo, United National Movement (UNM), and Strategy Aghmashenebeli boycotted legislative activities after the Georgian Parliament adopted the draft bill on Transparency of Foreign Influence with the third reading at the plenary on May 14.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said on May 12 that she would veto the bill, noting she would not “enter into any manipulations or games since this would bring more unclarity into people.”
