Strategy Aghmashenebeli: All parties, excluding For Georgia, unanimous over facts-finding commission
All opposition parties with the exception of For Georgia party are unanimous over the initiative to establish an interim facts-finding commission in the parliament in Shovi tragedy, said Sergo Chikhladze, a member of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.
According to Chikhladze, the commission is the most effective, complex investigative means to respond to the questions. It can study the activities of all high-ranking officials.
“This will be the most transparent process and would shed light on the questions, to which the Georgian Dream does not respond,” he said.
Sergo Chikhladze believes that there are too many unanswered questions that cause doubts and signal on indifference on the part of officials on duty. This concerns early alarm systems, insufficient equipment, helicopters, drones, lack of information centres, refusal to summon security council and what was done in the most critical three hours after the disaster to rescue people.
Sergo Chikhladze is interested in why For Georgia rejects to join the initiative.
“To this day, I have not heard any argument why they are against it. However, this is also a kind of test for political parties, who stands where and who wants to establish the truth,” he said.
