State Minister meets UNFPA Regional Director

State Minister Tea Akhvlediani met with Florence Bauer, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), State Minister’s Office reported.

During the meeting, Tea Akhvlediani highlighted the role of international organizations and partners in restoring trust and promoting people-to-people contacts among artificially divided societies. She also expressed gratitude for UNFPA’s involvement in the occupied territories of Georgia.

The State Minister briefed the Regional Director on the progress and future plans of Georgia’s reconciliation and engagement policy, aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of conflict-affected populations and fostering dialogue and trust-building based on shared interests.

The discussion also covered the current human rights and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions and the serious consequences of the ongoing occupation.

Both sides agreed to continue close cooperation.
