SSSG: USD 7 002 200, GEL 136 000 seized upon flats search of Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Partskhaladze, associated individuals
As a result of the search of flats belonging to Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Partskhaladze and their associated individuals, USD 7 002 200, GEL 136 000 have been confiscated,” the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) announced at the briefing.
According to the SSSG, law enforcers also seized 198 jewelry items, valuable paintings and documentation comprising several thousand pages.
“Due to high public interest, we will provide additional information about complex searches conducted yesterday.
As you are aware, since the morning of October 17, 24 flats and residential houses have been searched throughout Georgia in addition to private searches. The searches were conducted both in Tbilisi and Dedoplistskaro, Vani, Chokhatauri and Borjomi municipalities. Flats and residential houses of Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Partskhaladze, Romeo Mikautadze, Mikheil Chokheli, Vano and Tornike Parkaulis, Andria (Sandro) Liluashvili and their family members were searched. Approximately 230 officers from the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office and State Security Service participated in the activities.
Cash money in the amount of USD 7 002 200, GEL 136 000, 198 jewelry items and watches, valuable paintings and documentation comprising several thousand pages, 50 cell phones and 119 electric devices have been seized.
Currently, law enforcement officers from the SSSG and the General Prosecutor’s Office are actively inspecting and processing the information compiled in the documentation and kept in electronic devices. The origin of the seized cash money is being determined. Further investigative and operational actions will be planned based on the processed information and legal action will be taken against the relevant persons,” the SSSG said.
During the October 17 briefing at the Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor General, Giorgi Gvarakidze, announced that searches had been carried out at the homes of Georgia’s former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, former Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) Grigol Liluashvili, and former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze, and their associates. The Prosecutor’s Office reported the seizure of electronic devices, documents, and a substantial amount of money.
