SSSG launches investigation into July 24-25 emergency power outages nationwide on sabotage charge

The State Security Service of Georgia has launched an investigation in the case of emergency power outages that occurred nationwide on July 24 and 25 under the charge of sabotage.

According to the SSSG, the investigation is in progress under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which entails disrupting the normal functioning of, or damaging or destroying, a state enterprise or other significant facilities to endanger Georgia’s state interests.

The Georgian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNERC) will investigate the precise causes of the large-scale electric power outage that affected the entire country.
