Special commission to assess landslide damage in Gomaro village [Photos]

Clearance and recovery operations in the village of Gomaro, Adigeni Municipality, where a landslide struck late last night, will resume this morning with heavy machinery. Adigeni Mayor Gocha Kimadze confirmed that the primary roadway has already been cleared for traffic.

Mayor Kimadze emphasised that hydrologists, geologists, and structural engineers must inspect the site urgently to assess whether future natural disasters can be mitigated.

Meanwhile, a dedicated commission will carry out an on-site assessment to evaluate the total damage caused by the disaster.

Operations across the affected villages were inspected by Giorgi Kochiashvili, First Deputy State Representative, alongside Mayor Gocha Kimadze and representatives from the municipal council, emergency services, and the newly established commission.

Heavy rainfall has triggered severe disruptions across the villages of Gomaro, Kvemo Enteli, and Shoka. In Gomaro, two residential properties and local road infrastructure were damaged; Kvemo Enteli suffered damage to agricultural farmland; and Shoka experienced damage to both farmland and local transport links.
