Speaker: When German ambassador wrote this post, very groups he supported were attacking on GD HQ

“When the German ambassador wrote this post, the very groups he supported were attacking the Georgian Dream’s Tbilisi election headquarters with fascist chants,” the Georgia Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, wrote on social media.

The Speaker responded to German Ambassador Peter Fischer’s post on social network X, in which the ambassador stated: “Full support of the German government for me as ambassador. Of course, Germany rejects political violence. I have said so publicly in Georgia. To claim otherwise is untrue, not true.”

The Speaker also shared a screenshot of Fischer’s earlier post about his meeting with representatives of the Ilia University student movement.

“At the time the German ambassador was writing this post, the very people he had met and supported just days earlier were attacking the Georgian Dream’s election headquarters in Tbilisi with fascist chants. He neither condemned this politically motivated violence nor withdrew his support for this extremist group. Therefore, his claims are incorrect and untrue. Support for extremist groups in the host country by an accredited diplomat constitutes a gross violation of Article 41 of the Vienna Convention,” Papuashvili wrote.
