Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated measures would be taken to prevent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from repeating the 2020 events and spreading false conclusions.
Papuashvili specifically mentioned concerns about the United National Movement and its affiliated NGOs, suggesting the need to protect the votes of Georgian voters from their potential interference.
“Based on our observations in 2020, it appears that the primary entity from which we need to protect the votes of Georgian voters is the United National Movement and its affiliated NGOs.
The OSCE’s conclusion directly acknowledged the presence of party-affiliated NGOs in election precincts, including during the pre-election period. We recall the Parallel Vote Tabulations conducted by ISFED, which were later revealed to be manipulated, leading to several NGO statements that served as the basis for the National Movement’s subsequent boycott.
It’s essential to note the violent intrusion into the Central Election Commission (CEC) in 2020.
Therefore, if there’s anyone we should be vigilant about when safeguarding our votes, it is the United National Movement and its associated NGOs. We are also closely monitoring the selection of so-called local observers, who, at times, have shown activity but have lost the public trust due to their involvement in the disinformation campaign during the 2020 election falsification controversy,” the Speaker declared.
