“Old agenda of the Cold War or that of the post-Cold War is over, and giving birth to a new agenda is always painful. This was in the past and at present,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, presenting the annual report of the parliament’s activities at the plenary.

According to the Speaker, the Georgian Dream’s being in the government and its strength is and will be the main strategy of the country’s security.

“Four years on after the start of the war in Ukraine, when we hoped that the united West would be able to stop the war, if not to defend Ukraine, we saw a fragmented and divided West and a new war closer to our borders, in proximity with our neighbours. Historically, war has always been and will always be a continuation of politics. The brief illusion that history is over and that only peace rules the world has been shattered.

However, after the start of the war in Ukraine, Georgia managed to develop a security doctrine built on Georgia’s sovereign national interests and the concept of peace, which it faithfully and consistently upholds.

Therefore, we want to assure our voters and each citizen that the Georgian Dream’s being in the government and its strength is and will be the main strategy of the country’s security as mandated by the Georgian people. No external force or the fifth column can break this strong chain.

In this current time, our roadmap and torch for the future are still the treasures left to us by our ancestors – our homeland, our language, and our faith. Georgia foremost – this is our key message and ideology. I wish you all to continue activities with commitment to the motherland, unity and affection,” he concluded.
