Speaker to Kaljurand: No need to look in mirror; MEPs should look at last three resolutions

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili remarked on MEP Marina Kaljurand’s statement that “When we say that there is anti-Western rhetoric and accusations against MEPs, they do not come from nowhere. There are concrete statements from your [Georgian] leadership that we are receiving here in Brussels. My advice would be, don’t blame others, look in the mirror and see what you can do better.”

The Speaker responded that “There is no need to look in the mirror, they [MEPs] should look at the last three resolutions, backed by Kaljurand among others,” adding that they should “reconsider their positions, which have damaged Georgia’s European perspective.”

“We’ve witnessed quotation manipulation, misinformation propagated, and factual distortion, all of which were represented in the EP’s previous three resolutions. According to what we heard, personal irritations and antipathies were felt in certain utterances, which is not a serious and European attitude that the Georgian people have,” he claimed.
