Speaker: Those basked under NATO umbrella and moralizing must remember Georgia fought three wars against Russia

Those moralizing about Georgia should recall that if someone was at war with Russia, it was us who fought three wars. Now, they are basked under the NATO umbrella, and when they come to us from moralistic perspectives, we will respond, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili remarked.

Moreover, Shalva Papuashvili addressed the topic of the European Union adopting sanctions against Russia, noting that such sanctions are being enforced in a way that does not cause undue harm to the countries imposing sanctions.

“Recently, the 11th package of sanctions was enforced. We witnessed that the sanctions began with minor concerns and are now steadily mounting. Let everyone know that debates concerning sanctions are still ongoing in the EU. There are interests, and such sanctions are enforced to guarantee that the nations implementing sanctions do not suffer undue harm. The goal of retribution is to injure others, not oneself. Of course, everyone loses, but it makes complete sense to harm others more than oneself.

Even now, the European Union gets natural gas from Ukraine, but only through one pipeline, and pays Russia 20 million euros or dollars every day. If someone is interested in counting whether or not the war is financed; 20 million is four or five tanks, so it could be counted this way if interest.

According to the Speaker, Georgia is accused of importing wine to Russia.

“When Georgian or international actors become moralistic about Georgia, we will have a response. We hear that Georgia is warming its hand in this war when Georgian wine passes through Russia. Last year, the same volume of wine and alcoholic beverages entered Russia via Latvia in three months as Georgia supplied for a whole year. Everyone realizes that Latvia produces less wine than Georgia. Everyone knows that here is where alcoholic beverages are exported to Russia.
